Time Out

Following on from my last post, I have been reflecting on time-outs. It can be really difficult to take a rest at home, where we are surrounded by routines, chores, jobs, projects, family, - it sometimes seems that there is no end. Sooo much maintenance and - if there’s energy left - creating, to do.

Do you have a space in your home that allows you to stop, rest, empty your head, let go of all that? Do you have a retreat? Let me tell you that this is of great importance. Even a corner that is just for you, a chair, a seat in the garden, any place where you go to take time-out.

Note, that time-out is not achieved by scrolling on social media. It’s just for you.

I remember a client, who ran the family, the household, and also worked from home. The home was impeccable and everyone was looked after, but she was stressed and anxious and not all that happy with her life, it seemed.

Her room was different to the rest of the home. It was stacked with boxes, full of stuff that she had taken from the house to sort out. We could barely get through, and she was most apologetic about her room. She’d sort it all out, one day, she said.

To me, it symbolised how she took care of everything else but herself. She had taken on everyone’s ‘stuff’ - and it was burdening her down and suffocating her.

Once I had tested for mould and EMR, I explained about Feng Shui and how they believe that the state of our environment is actually inside of us. If we change the environment, we change ourselves.

I suggested to her to treat her room as a living thing and to work through the boxes like a healing, to release the chi energy. - Rent a storage space for things that are too difficult to part with or might still be needed, but - get it all out of YOUR space. Let it go, free yourself from it.

It took a while, but she persisted and as they say - she never looked back. Friends and family commented on her being happier and healthier, life began to flow her way again. She had repaired her inner space, while creating her time-out.

In return, her regenerated retreat-space now supported her more relaxed an in-tune state of being.
